Hi, I’m Alex. I spend most of my days thinking about two things: what it means to truly flourish as a human being, and what happens when technology gets in the way of that, or, rarer and more exciting, when it helps.
That curiosity started early. I grew up obsessed with community service, then psychology/neuroscience, then AI, then the strange space where they overlap. By my early teens I was building AI & brain-computer interfaces, presenting at global conferences, working on mental health policy, and more. But the more I learned, the more one question kept surfacing: what is preventing our growth and flourishing?
“The machine does not isolate man from the great problems of nature but plunges him more deeply into them.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
That question led me to build Berry, the future of AI companionship. It also led me here: to write about flourishing, about what ethical, human-centered tech actually looks like in practice, and about what I’m figuring out in real time as a solo founder navigating all of it as a teen.
I don’t have perfect answers. But I care about the questions: both the philosophical ones (virtue, consciousness, what a good life looks like) and the practical ones (how do you build a company that actually does good? what does healthy tech look like for a generation that grew up on social media?). This newsletter is where I work through both.
